Short answers about what Copyrighted does, what it costs, and what it can and can't tell you.
What does Copyrighted do?
It reads the copyright metadata inside your photos (EXIF, IPTC and XMP), sorts every photo into Matches you, Third-party, Blank or Conflicting, and adds, updates or removes that metadata in bulk. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Which file formats does it support?
JPEG, HEIC, PNG and TIFF files are rewritten in place. RAW and DNG files get an XMP sidecar and are never written. Photos in your Photos library get a stamped copy; RAW photos in the library can be read but not stamped.
Does stamping reduce photo quality?
No. Copyrighted rewrites only the metadata and never re-encodes the image. Each file is read back and checked before it replaces the original.
What happens to photos in my Photos library?
Photos doesn't let apps edit a photo's details in place, so Copyrighted saves a stamped copy to an album called Copyrighted and leaves the original untouched. An optional setting, off by default, can delete an original after its copy is verified.
Can I undo a batch?
Yes. Every batch is kept in History, and Undo puts back what each photo said before. If a photo can’t be put back, such as one changed since the batch, undo skips it and says so. For copies in Photos, undo deletes the copies, and Photos asks you once to confirm.
What does Conflicting mean?
The photo's layers disagree on at least one field, for example EXIF naming one owner and IPTC another. Update writes your profile to every layer so they agree again.
What is free?
Scanning, grouping, checking, Copyright Info, removing copyright and stamping in Messages are free. Stamping is free for your first 50 different photos on each device.
What does Pro cost?
Pro is $19.99 once (Lifetime) or $9.99 a year (Yearly), in US dollars; the App Store shows your local price. Both remove the 50-photo limit on iPhone, iPad and Mac and support Family Sharing.
Do my photos leave my device?
No. There's no account, no analytics and no server of ours. Reading and writing happen on your device. The only network traffic comes from Apple: iCloud thumbnails and App Store purchases.
Can Copyrighted tell me who really owns a photo?
It tells you what the photo's metadata says. Metadata can be wrong, out of date or stripped, and it isn't proof of ownership. Blank doesn't mean free to use.
Does copyright metadata protect my photos?
It doesn't create copyright or stop copying. It tells everyone who handles the file who owns it and how to credit you. For legal questions, ask a lawyer where you live.
Where are the share sheet and Messages extensions?
Add Copyright and Copyright Info are in the share sheet of Photos, Files and other apps; if you don't see them, tap Edit Actions or More at the end of the list. In Messages, tap +, then More, then Copyrighted.
